AbstractThe performance of signal timings obtained by using conventional approaches for pre-timed control systems is often unstable under fluctuating traffic conditions. This paper presents three models to determine robust optimal signal timings that are less sensitive to fluctuations of traffic flows or perform better against the worst-case scenario without losing much optimality. Computational experiments are conducted to validate the model formulations and solution algorithms.
