AbstractMarangoni convection due to an arbitrary temperature field applied at the free surface or interfacial surface of a spherical liquid system has been analytically investigated. The applied temperature field is unsymmetrical and presented as an arbitrary function of the meridional- and angular coordinates. The systems treated are the spherical liquid drop, two immiscible liquids in a spherical container, exhibiting an interface and an annular spherical liquid layer around a rigid center sphere. For a simple unsymmetrical temperature distribution numerical results are presented in graphical form.
