Abstract This paper outlines a procedure to account hierarchically for the influence of attributes on choice. By suitable specification of the role of each attribute, a nested logit model can be used as a sequential attribute dominance model. An advantage of the procedure is that standard software can be used to handle relationships between attributes which many believe are more realistic than most of current practice.
