Abstract The stable traction substitute with a JBPF seems a very promising indication for pinless clamps, offering good patient comfort and easy care. The implantation of a JBPF is possible under the same conditions as for conventional calcaneal traction. Although the stability provided is less than for conventional external fixators, it is sufficient for a temporary traction device. The JBPF does not affect secondary ORIF.
