Abstract A concept of a merged data set with ERS-1/ATSR, MOS-1/VTIR and NOAA/AVHRR is proposed. It is confirmed that the proposed merged data set is effective for diurnal change analysis of the sea surface temperature. The detectability of thin cirrus in the feature space consisting of 6.5 and 10.5 um channel data of MOS-1/VTIR is further confirmed.
