Abstract Correlations between maximum brightness, outburst width, lengths of preceding and following intervals have been studied for 14 dwarf novae (mostly from southern sky). Significant correlations (ϱ>0.40) occur only in 16 per cent of cases, which confirms earlier results by Szkody and Mattei /20/. Global correlations have also been studied between mean photometric parameters and binary system parameters using a sample including over 30 objects. The most interesting result is the strong correlation (ϱ=+0.94) between the orbital period and the outbursts duration. It implies that the quantity α (zo/r)2 is approximately constant for all dwarf novae. Using typical estimates for z0/r we get .
