AbstractI summarise the first results obtained from the ROSAT X-ray telescope after one month of operation. All scientific instruments onboard ROSAT have been turned on, checked out and tested and perform as expected. The background encountered by the ROSAT PSPC is lower than anticipated, thus increasing the point source detection sensitivity both in the all sky survey as well as in pointed observations. The gain of the ROSAT PSPC is highly uniform over the face of the counter and constant in time to better than one percent and thus allows the extraction of reliable pulse height spectra.
