Abstract The non-tidal variation in the second zonal harmonic J2 in the geopotential, detected by LAGEOS orbit dynamics, together with the secular decrease in the angular velocity of the Earth's rotation, as well as the tidal variations in the Moon's orbit detected by LLR, have been used at the angular momentum balance of the Earth-Moon-Sun system, and conclusions have been drawn from its residuum. The time variations in the amplitude and frequency of the polar motion due to dJ2/dt have been derived. The non-tidal secular variations in gravity and some paleogeodynamic parameters due to the mentioned phenomena have been estimated.
