Abstract This article celebrates the tenth birthday of Europe's satellite launch corporation. It was born at a time when expendable launch vehicles were widely believed to be redundant, but has confounded its critics to become the leader in the world commercial satellite launch market. The author notes the milestones on Arianespace's path, and expresses confidence in its ability to the growing competitive challenge of the 1990s.
