Abstract Energetic electron excited whistler spectra propagate along the geomagnetic field lines and in turn cause cumulative scattering of energetic electrons into the loss cone. Using wave and particle data observed onboard GEOS 2, a theoretical model for equatorial pitch angle distribution function is developed. Taking these distributions as initial data, the boundary layer equation is solved for pitch angle distribution all along the auroral field line. Considering the externally excited ULF wave as a slow perturbation of the ambient plasma the modification in VLF spectrum and precipitating flux are estimated.
