Abstract The evaluation of microvibrations effect is crucial for the success of remote sensing missions. The moving parts on the satellite such as reaction wheels can create microvibrations disturbances, which cause degradation of image quality. In our paper we present an experimental investigation methodology for on-ground quantification of wheel noise disturbance transmitted through the structure to the payload. This assessment was carried out for the ALSAT-1B satellite integrating a medium resolution payload. The angular motion along imager bore sight was measured using accelerometers and verified against image quality and mission requirement. The on ground experimental methodology suggests that the effect of microvibrations on a camera can be verified directly.
