AbstractDuring the last 15 years, a lot of different kinds of data allowed to probe the local interstellar medium down to the inner solar system. It has yield a simple picture in which the Sun is located within a warm, low density region flowing past the solar system, this region beeing immersed in a very hot and tenuous larger local bubble. However, many problems remain, especially concerning the velocity field. From high quality ground-based observations, it becomes obvious that this picture should be much more complex, with at least three velocity components over only 5 parsecs. But the connection between the interplanetary and the local interstellar media is still to be performed.
