AbstractThe main purpose of this article is to reproduce the UVCS/SOHO measurements along a streamer axis at solar minimum with theoretical models incorporating different heating functions. It is assumed that the slow solar wind originates in the open magnetic flux tubes surrounding helmet streamers. The comparison of different solutions supports the argument that the outflow velocity of O5+ ions as well as some other minor ions in the slow wind source region varies non-monotonically with increasing heliocentric distance.
