AbstractTwo different methods of computing regional evaporation from NOAA-AVHRR data are compared on a 250 × 250 km area for a particular day of the HAPEX-MOBILHY experiment. In the first one, the daily evaporation is linearly related to the surface temperature at 14h 00 UT ; in the other one, a simple planetary boundary layer model is used. The obtained differences are discussed, and a few improvements proposed.
