Boron fibers, having about six times modulus of elasticity of glass fibers and about same strength and density as glass fibers, have been developed for use as reinforcements in structural plastics for aerospace vehicles and other high-performance applications; physical and mechanical properties of currently available boron fibers made by chemical vapor deposition process; mechanical property data on laboratory fabricated boron-fiber-reinforced plastic composites in ring and flat panel form are given for several representative fiber orientation layups.
