Information on designs evolved in Lloyd's Register and Det Norske Veritas feasibility studies; Lloyd's design is for 18-knot short broad-beamed vessel, and was based on 80 ft draft, which could be extended under 1966 Freeboard Rules; length bp 1300 ft, molded breadth 225 ft, depth 112 ft; Nors Veritas projects are based on length of 1245 ft, breadth draft 88 ft, side height 106 ft 8 in., and machinery of 55,000 to 60,000 shp; steels considered for both projects are also noted.
