It is explained why transverse-scanning panoramic aerial cameras have residual image-motion despite their optimum image-motion compensation (IMC); image displacement is parabolic function of time, and is also proportional to film's transport velocity, airplane velocity, and sine of transverse scan-angle; improvement in modulation transfer function can be achieved by matching film's IMC velocity to image velocity at middle of slit rather than at slit jaw.
