Review of research studies concerned with evaluating driver improvement interview; detailed examination of seven studies revealed that meaningful direct comparisons of research efforts are hindered by diversity of variables involved; these factors have been grouped according to interview procedures, driver characteristics, control group methodology, behavioral criteria, and subsequent driving; analysis relates dimensions of first four variables to dimensions of last to extract critical procedural elements of driver improvement that may have significant impact upon accidents and injuries.
