Measurements of air pollution in High Street at Warwick, England, which is congested and carries large number of private and commercial vehicles, showed smoke levels four to five times greater than in parts of borough not specifically affected by vehicles' exhausts; from ratios of mean value of smoke and lead at midweek and weekend it is deduced that diesel consuming traffic is 50% higher in midweek; gasoline consuming vehicles constitute 60% of midweek traffic.
