Recent developments in aeronautics indicate that flight is possible over extremely wide range of design speeds; some possibilities are reviewed, including vertical takeoff aircraft which must be capable of hovering flight, and boost glide aircraft which may cruise at speeds approaching satellite velocity; aerodynamic research problems are considered with particular reference to possible future Canadian needs.
