Rolling load tests of induction hardened rails from Japan, 115-lb standard carbon steel rail, 100-lb continuous-cast rails from France, flame-hardened rails, and used flame-hardened rail are described; data on shelly failures produced in rolling-load tests and on hardness of flame-hardened rails are tabulated.
