Discusses more accurate and systematic determination of ship propulsive performance; deals with various types of commercial trials, their interrelation and establishing of their mutual consistency; investigation is extended to ballast condition, and relative absorption of propeller with any degree of immersion is discussed with view of increasing still further generalization of propeller calibration data; problems of propulsive performance in service; analysis made possible by having means of assessing average power; weather classification; reference to possible changes in trial routine suggested from consideration of analysis methods developed.
