Tests to determine modifications necessary to enable engine to perform satisfactorily on heavy fuel with minimum of operational costs, particularly in reference to cylinder liner wear; experimental work was carried out on single cylinder engine of 9 in. bore, 12 in. stroke, running at 600 rpm, with from 3 to 8 cylinders both normally aspirated and pressure charged.
