Optimum design analyses, carried out by Lockheed Missiles and Space Co, are presented for 8 types of ring supported cylinders; experimental results included for rectangular ring stiffened shells demonstrate validity of analyses; optimum configurations are calculated by minimum weight analysis, and information presented for design of either optimum or nonoptimum configurations.
