Details of experiment in which attenuation of oscillatory burning by aluminum is studied; values of response function of combustion zone are presented for composite propellants some of which contained small amounts of aluminum; data show that addition has little effect upon response function of flame and that there is increased acoustic damping caused by presence of aluminum in propellant; if this is ascribed to formation of condensed Al2O3 droplets in combustion gas, it is shown that theory of P.A.Epstein and R.R. Carhart can explain increased damping.
