Small meteorological rocket is at present developed at Bristol Aerojet against specification issued by Meteorological Office; solid-propellant motor is provided by Rocket Propulsion Establishment at Westcott; problem of wind dispersion has important economic considerations, particularly on overall cost/firing, including range, rocket and instrumentation costs; principal meteorological rocket systems developed in United States are ARCAS sounding rocket and LOKI II which are described; other successful systems.
