Primary forces and moments which affect directional control properties of wheeled vehicles are those between road and rolling tire; they are nonlinear functions of parameters including slip angle, camber angle, vertical load, tire-road friction coefficient, and traction forces; description of General Motors tire test machine to measure steady state tire properties significant in handling studies; forces and moments are defined; results for 7.60-15 tire show effects of slip angle, camber angle, vertical load, inflation pressure, and wheel torque on cornering force and aligning torque.
