Operational problem of spark plug fouling in aviation and automobile industries discussed, with special reference to use of tricresyl phosphate scavenger mix, which has been found to permit laboratory aviation engine to run for 62 hr without fouling; mechanism by which top relieves spark plug fouling; prevention or minimization of formation and deposition of metallic lead.
