Curves of operating cost for varying duration, speed, reserve horsepower, etc., are developed. Calculations to illustrate impracticability of requiring twin-engined commercial airplanes to fly on one engine; initial rate of climb of 400 to 500 ft. in first minute is proposed as standard of safe performance.
