Concept of single satellite capable of maneuvering to variety of resonant orbits so that many additional terms in geopotential can be accurately determined; satellite with onboard propulsion system consisting of 58% of total satellite weight in hydrazine and nitrogen tetroxide (where total weight for Scout-launched satellite would be 310 lb) could be maneuvered into all resonant orbits with periods between 1.86 and 12 side-real hr; aspects explored are sizes and effects of certain resonances on satellite orbits, maneuver and control system requirements for changing from one orbit to another, requirements for sample mission using either Scout or Thor Delta launch vehicle, and N2H4-N2O4 engine system orbit and orientation control system.
