Most striking thing in comparison between German and American production is that in America 711,000 workers produce 4,336,754 cars per year while in Germany 119,000 workers produce only 70,000; this means that every automotive worker in America produces 6.1 cars while every German worker produces only 0.6; price of German car now distributes itself as follows: wages 11 per cent; materials 67 percent; overhead 22 per cent; simply by reorganization of work but without retooling or other changes in equipment, it was found possible to reduce number of crankshafts in process of production from 160 to 16 with daily production of 10; it is felt that with German quantities produced such reorganizations may more nationally meet situation than great modifications in equipment.
