Constructed by Beardmore and Co., at Dalmuir, for service on eastern coast of South America northward from Buenos Aires; ship has continuous upper and main decks, with lower deck forward and aft of amidships machinery space; main propelling machinery comprises twin-screw arrangement of 6-cylinder, 4-stroke cycle, single-acting engines, of Beardmore-Tosi pattern, specially designed to work with supercharging or augmented induction.
