In pursuance of investigation into causes producing loss of speed in different types of vessels under various weather conditions, author made several voyages across Atlantic with object of securing reliable data of extent to which wind and waves affect ship's speed; partly with object of securing further facts of behavior and propulsive qualities of finer forms a winter voyage was undertaken between Liverpool and Havana during first three months of 1926; voyages were made on S.S. "Oroya" and "Oropesa." Abstract of paper read before Instn. Nav. Architects. See also Mar. Eng. and Shipg. Age, vol. 32, no. 9, Sept. 1927, pp. 518-523. (See also - discussion p 451-452)
