Structural difference between subsonic and supersonic wings; it is suggested that future aircraft be classified, from safety standpoint, in three categories; nonexpendable, semiexpendable and expendable; distinction attains great importance at Mach numbers above 2.0, because of effect of aerodynamic heating upon metals; phenomenon of creep necessitates introduction of semiexpendable class for piloted aircraft.
