Method for treating complex structure as assemblage of distinct regions, or substructures, is presented which is similar to that of W.C.Hurty, (see Engineering Index 1965 p 2453); method, however, differs in one important respect, it simplifies treatment of rigid-body modes of substructures by eliminating separation of boundary forces into statically determinate and statically indeterminate reactions; this enables all modes associated with boundary freedoms to be treated alike; all such modes may be generated by matrix operations performed by computer on input substructure matrices; free vibration example of aircraft structure.
