Use of aircraft in support of day-to-day operation and construction work of electricity supply authorities is increasing and helicopters are used on transmission-line activities, on construction jobs in capacity of aerial cranes, and as means of transporting personnel and equipment to sites; different method of achieving same end is use of light, low-speed, fixed-wing aircraft, such as Piper Super Cub; advantages are greater speed of coverage and much cheaper operating costs in comparison with those of helicopters; scope and extent of support services provided for aircraft on electricity work are described and future possibilities considered.
