Considerable effort has been directed in recent years toward implementation of turboprop V/STOL as evidenced by XC-142A, X-22A, and CL-84 experimental aircraft programs; current status of propeller technology and gains obtained; two recent developments, fiber glass covered, steel spar blade and integral gear box propeller, were aimed at effecting major weight reductions, and improved durability and maintainability; examples of production applications; advanced materials, blade designs and major components.
