Control of thrust vector angle and thrust magnitude represents large part of pilot work load in transition maneuvers, particularly when pilot task is to follow steep approach or takeoff flight trajectory; present day V/STOL vectored thrust vehicles have power management and thrust vector controls based on blend of fixed wing and helicopter practice; paper attempts to show that reorganization of thrust management controls offers significant simplification of pilot 's task in controlling transition flight maneuvers which exploit unique advantages of vectored thrust V/STOL vehicles.
