Examination of system for transmitting torque from main engine output flange to propeller and thrust to main thrust block, with reference to Pametrada experience where possible, for merchant and naval vessels ranging from ferry boats and passenger liners through destroyers and aircraft carriers; requirements that system should not develop harmful torsional or axial vibrations, yet retain transverse flexibility to accept most extreme hull movements, are taken into account; two Algol computer programs for determining axial and/or torsional characteristics of turbine geared-shaft system are described.
