Emission of atomic oxygen at 6300 A in night airglow was observed by three rockets in 1965 and 1966, with photoelectric photometers, to study height profile of emission; emitting layer had maximum brightness between 260 and 290 km, and residual emission above 330 ion which were peak altitudes of rockets; height profile was considerably altered by geographic positions where measurements were made and, additionally, by altitude of sun; reaction and temperature were estimated using electron and ion densities observed from same rockets.
