Control scheme to minimize lateral drift and concurrently to maintain structural load limits of vehicle is presented and compared with conventional vehicle attitude control schemes; guidance problem is solved by directing acceleration vector in manner that will cause vehicle to move from its present state to desired future state; conventional vehicle attitude control schemes insure stable rotational dynamic behavior of vehicle by attempting to bring its attitude into coincidence with desired attitude; it also is independent of vehicle attitude feedback.
