General equations of motion describing synchronous deployment of flexible, extendible booms from spinning spacecraft are developed, where direction of motion of representative boom relative to spacecraft is arbitrary; using simplifying assumption of rigid booms, equations of motion are solved for cases of unrestrained extension and constant-velocity extension; equations are applied to parametric studies of candidate deployment systems for sample problem, spacecraft antenna array; for selected development system, analog computer solutions to general flexible-boom equations are presented, serving to verify design arrived at by using rigid-boom assumption.
