Study has been made of possibility of using atmospheric braking with single, multipurpose entry vehicle for missions to bodies in solar system; results indicate that for surface pressures as low as 1 mbar entry vehicle designed for Mars mission could be used for Mercury and Titan missions with appropriate changes in terminal descent system and, perhaps, in guidance system; both ballistic and lifting entry vehicles (L/D (Lift/Drag) equal or less than 0.45) were studied; lifting entry vehicles were constrained to fly constant L/D trajectories with fixed roll angle.
