Accelerations from stop lines, platoon dispersions, queue lengths at stop lines, and journey times using closed circuit TV were studied to investigate means of achieving degree of reliability in prediction of vehicle movement in given situations; merits of range of instrumentation were investigated and equipment developed included intervalometer associated with cine camera; behavior studies resulted in proposal of two formulas which describe acceleration patterns of leading cars and heavy commercial vehicles moving from signalized stop lines.
