Models relate vehicular traffic flow to driver behavior, vehicle dynamics, road characteristics, and traffic control procedures; these models, consisting of mathematical relations, take into account such human behavior factors as driver's response time, sensitivity to stimuli, and information processing capacity on one hand and physical laws of time, space, and motion on other; common objectives in use of traffic flow models include measurement of changes in traffic flow variables caused by driver-vehicle interactions due to increasing concentration and predicting of effects of alternative road complexes and traffic control procedures on vehicle movement.
