Low temperature strength characteristics of various fillet welded joints on atmospheric corrosion resisting steel, 9% Ni steel and mild steel are compared; study revealed that 9% steel welded joint is superior to others; steel is used on Japanese National Railways in construction of coal, freight, ore-carrying, and refrigeration cars, and water tanks on passenger cars; data are presented on fracture behavior and static strength of different welds.
