Investigation of adequacy of effective back pressure concept for predicting behavior of underexpanded secondary jet; experiments were performed with flat-plate model having single, round injection port at 2.1 Mach; it is shown that useful analogy can be established between this flow problem and simpler case of underexpanded jet issuing into quiescent medium making it possible to predict vertical penetration and horizontal displacement of first Mach disk in highly underexpanded transverse jet.
