Pressures and forces on circular and square-sectioned fuselages and on wings, and corresponding changes of blade lift are calculated for hovering flight; it is shown that large changes of blade lift occur if blade is close to fuselage due to interference by fuselage of downwash or normal component of flow, and that interference effects on square-sectioned fuselage are about half as large again as those of circular cylinder whose diameter is same as length of side of square; it is also shown that interference between tailfin and tailrotor may result in loss of effectiveness of tailrotor especially in hovering and low speed flight.
