Several very clear photographs of earth's night airglow horizon over western Texas were obtained at altitudes up to 184 km from Aerobee rocket; vertical distribution of airglow has been determined, showing altitude of peak nightglow emission as 95 plus or minus 4 km with 90% of emission between 80 and 116 km; striking visual appearance of airglow layer and surface lights and altitude determination are compared with observations reported by various astronauts and with other rocket measurements.
