Tamerlane and Tirranna, both of 12,900 tons dw, were built for Wilh. Wilhelmsen of Oslo at Uddevallavarvet; they are distinguished from others in series by installation of medium speed engines (two 16-cyl Lindholmen-Pielstick diesels, each developing 6720 bhp at 500 rpm) giving increase of 500 tons in deadweight, and in foreshortening by transom-type stern; length oa 497 ft 11 1/2 in., breadth molded 68 ft, draft 31 ft 5 1/4 in.
